Dr. Robert Melrose has been in practice with his wife, Rosemary, in Stockton since 1982. In addition to his practice in Stockton, he taught at the University of California, Berkeley School of Optometry for 10 years as an Assistant Clinical Professor. For 17 years after that, Dr. Melrose was affiliated with Griffin and Reed Eye Care where he specialized in the screening and postoperative care of over 25,000 LASIK refractive surgery cases. He rejoined the teaching faculty at UC Berkeley in 2011 where he operates the Refractive Surgery Clinic alongside his Brookside partner, Dr. Kathy Tran (http://www.caleyecare.org/meet-our-doctors).
“The gift of sight is precious and to be able to help people with their contact lenses, glasses and LASIK needs is an honor and a privilege,” says Dr. Melrose.
Dr. Melrose is quite active in the Stockton community. He has served on the Board of Directors of the Community Blind Center and has graduated from the Leadership Stockton program. Dr. Melrose is a member of the Stockton Sunrise Rotary Club where he served as President in 2002 and is their first Major Donor to the Rotary International Charitable Foundation. He is currently a member of the Board of Directors of the Greater Stockton Chamber of Commerce and is a Fellow of the American Academy of Optometry.
The Drs. Melrose’s “20-something” twin sons, Brian and Kevin, still manage to keep them busy.
