Thank you to the Drs. Melrose!
On behalf of the entire team here at Brookside Optometric Group, and all our patients, it’s been a pleasure working with Dr. Rosemary (Rosie) Melrose and Dr. Bob Melrose as they grew their practice.
Along with being the founding partners of Brookside, they've had a strong commitment to the Stockton community and the profession of optometry.
Within the community, Dr. Bob was a Rotarian and served on the Board of Greater Stockton Chamber of Commerce. Dr. Rosie was active in civic and women’s business organizations. She was very involved in UOP women’s basketball and volunteered as a team “clipper” for news articles to send home to student’s families.
Together they grew their fundraising efforts with The Walk to End Alzheimer's in Stockton year over year. They have been strong supporters of the Stockton-based Red Rhino Project Orphanage project in Kenya, and gave their time to numerous other charitable endeavors.
Dr. Bob and Dr. Rosie were both faculty members at UC Berkeley School of Optometry, as well as serving on various leadership committees and advisory roles at the University.
Dr. Bob spent a good portion of his career in the LASIK specialty, where he supervised the screening and postoperative care of over 25,000 LASIK refractive surgery cases over 17 years. Dr. Rosie’s deep and long-lasting interest in helping people retain color vision started when she was a student where she performed vision research linking color vision loss to diseases such as glaucoma and diabetes.
We wish them well in their retirement after 40 years of practice. They have relocated to Colorado to be near their children and grandchildren, and we imagine they will continue to pursue their love of travelling the world – and perhaps they’ll stop in to visit Brookside from time to time!
